Galta ji is an ancient Hindu pilgrimage site in the Indian state of Rajasthan, 10 km from Jaipur city. The site consists of a series of temples built on a narrow hilltop crevice, with a natural spring that emerges high on the hill and flows downward, filling several holy kunds (water tanks) where pilgrims bathe. Visitors and pilgrims can climb the crevasse, continue past the highest water pool to a temple on the hilltop from where there are views of Jaipur city spread over the valley floor. A Saint named Galav is believed to have lived here, practised meditation, and did penance (Tapasya).
